Exodus

Exodus

Exodus is a thrash metal band formed in Richmond, California in 1980. They have disbanded and reformed at least two times. Guitarist Gary Holt joined the band shortly after its formation and has remained the only constant member of Exodus since and appears on all their releases, although he has been absent from touring recently as he has been filling in for the late Jeff Hanneman in Slayer. Like many thrash metal bands, Exodus gained substantial success in the 1980s, and has sold over 300,000 copies in the U.S since the beginning of the SoundScan era and over 5 million worldwide. Exodus is also notable for being Kirk Hammett's band before he joined Metallica in 1983.
