L'Américain is the thirtieth French-speaking album by French singer Mireille Mathieu, released in 1989 under the Carrère label and also distributed by Carrère. This album marks the singer's entry into the record company of producer Claude Carrère, the famous pygmalion of singer Sheila from 1967 to 1985.
This album is one of the last to be released in 33 rpm format and one of the first to be released in CD format. It was also released on audio cassette.
